Wasur National Park covering an area of 4260 km2 is located north of Merauke is the habitat of various flora and fauna including birds of paradise and unique Australian animals such as possum and a kangaroo. This national park is managed jointly by the WWF international agencies and the local indigenous community is Kanum and Marind who live in traditional villages are located in this region.
