Yapen island



Yapen island is located in the Papua province, accessible by twenty minutes flight from various point or six hours by motorized boat to discover as well as trekking and camping to appreciate the exotic flora and fauna which are the endemic of Papua Irian such as star turtle, Shell Turtle, butterfly, flying fox and many more.

This regency covers a small part of the northern coastal area of Cendrawasih Bay. Serui, the capital, is located on Yapen Waropen Island

The chocolate plantation became one Yapen Waropen potential commodities that have been developed since the Dutch colonial era that could attract tourists to see it. These areas continue to be developed and prioritized plant becomes brown chocolate producer in the second after Papua. Most of the coconuts are grown naturally in the forests and beaches, not deliberately planted by residents that add beautifull view of Yapen Island.
